Hot Isostatic Pressing (HIP)

Hot Isostatic Pressing (HIP)

Hot Isostatic Pressing (HIP) is a key process of cast titanium and nickel based alloy manufacture, At Aerolloy, we have one of the largest HIP vessels in the world, particularly in a foundry. The hot working zone can handle parts up to 1150mm in diameter and 2500mm in height.

The internal pressure will be up to 15000psi (103MPa) and see temperatures up to 1200 degress Celsius. This HIP plant was imported from one of the world’s leading specialist manufacturers, it has been operational since 2018.

In a nutshell, Hot Isostatic Pressing is used to eliminate pores in metal components and is generally a mandatory requirement for aerospace castings. Aerolloy generally HIP all Titanium castings as a matter of course.
